In order to keep the game and economy as realistic as possible, you'll only be allowed one character per server. This makes it so that every player has to rely on others to some extent. It actually benefits the crafters more than anyone. It means that you can't have a character as a main, and a dozen other secondary characters with different skills to support your main character. I have given some thought about letting people have 1 character per race per server. That would in part prevent support toons to some extent and still give people some variety in gameplay.
I've talked it over with some folks and they all say this wouldn't work, but it worked for years in SWG which had the best, most realistic working economy I've ever seen in a game, and I've played almost all of them.

Support toons ruin economies, I mean why bother to buy from another player if you can just log another one of your toons and make yourself something? Defeats a huge part of the interactivity of a MMORPG.
