This dream was inspired by a game called "Rifts". The game is kind of hard to explain so you'll need to look it up if you're curious. Rifts takes place somewhere between 300-500 years in the future after the world has gone to hell in a handbasket. Anyway, in one of the world books it talks about a city ruled by 3 cat gods. Bast, Simba, and Yaguar-Ogui. The city is called Omagua. The story starts out with me chasing my cat. My cat Storm (I named him that because he was silver-grey when he was born and it reminded me of the leading edge of a storm cloud) was given to me by my late wife and he's kind of important to me. Sometimes I hate him, sometimes I don't know what I'd do without him. Anyway he gets out of my old apartment and hauls ass with me right on his tail. His normal route is to head right to my bedroom window and sit on the sill. He turns the corner heading for my window and I turn right on him but I bump into a couple of guys and land flat on my ass. I look up and these "guys" are very large and pissed off cat people-things with spears right in my face. I glance around and I'm not at my window anymore,,,, matter of fact I have no clue where I am. The cat people are speaking some weird language when the being they are guarding steps forward and shoos them away. I later find out that this "person" is named Janissa, and she's the high priestess of Bast and one of the most powerful people in this city. She takes me to Bast and I actually get to meet her which I come to find out is extremely rare as even Janissa rarely gets to meet any of the three gods and Janissa is a big deal. She tells me that she felt me arrive and she knows who I am. Travelling through time is all but impossible even for a god so if I managed to it then I must be there for something important. She gives me to Janissa as a slave. Humans in Omagua are second class citizens if they're lucky. Slavery is legal, but abuse of slaves isn't. I originally had this dream and thought a lot of this up when I had my first job as a Butler. A lot of my dreams at the time involved slavery for some reason. My first employer was a dick, my second one was only slightly better, my current one is great, but ehh back to the story. Janissa isn't allowed to speak any language but the royal language. She and Bast are the only beings allowed to speak it, most other folks can understand it, but they can't speak it. One of her retainers acts as a translator occasionally but only when it suits her. I cook and clean and explore the city. The city is populated by all manner of feline creatures. Mutants that were genetically crossed Human/feline hybrids, pure blood cat-people that evolved into humanoids were the dominant populations. Really the only feline peoples that weren't welcome in the city were the lycanthropes. The jungles that surrounded Omagua were teeming with were-Jaguars. Simba wanted only pure-blood felines in the city, Bast didn't care as long as they were good people and could get along. Yaguar favored the were-cats but didn't have the power to oppose Simba. Simba was an outright asshole and liked to throw his weight around. After a few months I learned that the city is under constant siege by vast legions of vampires and demons. The city is losing the war with the monsters through attrition. There are several Human kingdoms that probably would help if asked but because of Simba Omagua is doomed to fall. I finally win favor with Janissa who starts calling me "Domissu", which sounds like "Dumbass you", it means "favored one". I still think it means I'm a dumbass but who knows. Janissa is a pure-blood cat being. She is a naturally evolved being from another world. Her husband, is a mutant, he was grown in a secret lab 30 years ago somewhere north of the city. He's devoutly loyal to Omagua but he knows the city isn't going to last. He returns home in bad shape after his squad was ambushed by some vampire raiders. I help nurse him back to health and we become fast friends. He teaches me how to use a sword and some basic combat skills so I can help protect his wife while he's away. I never learn his name, which is a shame because he was awesome. Over the course of several years he's away more than he's home. He comes home just long enough to heal up and he's off to defend the city once again. During one of his visits home we go fishing and he asks me what I think about the were-beasts and humans surround Omagua and I explain to him that I read a story about an old Indian war-chief that was trying to teach his young braves about war and tactics. I picked up a stick and broke it in front of him, then I picked up a bundle of twigs and couldn't break them. He understood what I was getting at. He and I go to many of the different were-beast camps and we explain as best we can what's happening. Some understand, but most refuse to help because of the abuse they've suffered at the hands of many Omaguan. Several more years go by, borrowed years because of what I've helped with. Some of the were-beast tribes have been coming to the aid of Omagua and driving back the vampire hoards. With my new found combat skills I set out with Janissa's husband often and destroy several vampire cities and burning them to the ground which creates a buffer between them and Omagua. Simba eventually gets angry and sends Janissa's husband to his death. He won't dare try anything with me because he thinks there's something fishy with me, after all not even gods can time travel. News of the husbands death comes to us and I cry and mourn him nearly as much as Janissa does. He was a friend and mentor, and that was a big deal to me. 10 years has now passed and I've proven my worth in many ways. My knowledge of pre-cataclysm history, science and artifacts has made me famous. A vault was discovered under the city and I was the only person that understood what much of the artifacts were and how to use them. I've got my own place, and despite my fame it's a dumpy little hovel in the Human section of the city. Around this time Simba pulls a coup and kicks the other two cat gods out of the pantheon and takes over Omagua. He sends a death squad after Janissa but her remaining guards and attendees are loyal. She gets spirited to my front door. I wake to someone pounding on my door in the middle of the night, Janissa and her remaining servant beg to be let in. He servant explains what happened, I say they're more than welcome to stay but the servant refuses. She will never take charity from a Human and leaves. Janissa accepts graciously. Janissa has all her powers stripped from her. As the HIgh Priestess she could "feel" the city. With her influence she could act as the voice of reason and settle arguments, listen to someones worries and be a "mother" to the entire city without ever leaving her home. Now however, she's cut off from everyone and everything. The city is in such chaos that she's afraid to leave my home. She's safe there, nobody is stupid enough to try anything in the Human section of the city. Simba is still afraid of me. Several more years pass, Janissa pulls her shit together and more or less becomes my servant. While I'm out working she brings me lunch, keeps my clothes and home cleans and even comes to the dig-site and helps out occasionally. We grow close, she starts calling me "Domiss" which means "loved one". Simba is getting beligerent by this time. He won't attack or send troops into the Human section of the city, but he blockades the entrances and damns up the water supply. Food isn't a problem, but water is getting a little scarce. I hatch a plan to dig under the walls and make a tunnel to the outside of the city. There are several tribes of were-cats that are friendly with me. It takes a year to dig past the very well fortified walls of the city and I let in several hundred were-cats that are itching for a fight. I make a deal with them that if can retake the city and will do so in the name of Bast that they will be welcomed into the city to live as citizens if they choose to. They agree. I'm walking home after my negotiations with the were-cat tribes and I pass by an alleyway and I see an old mangey cat-man huddled up cold and hungry. I go and talk with him for a while, give him my coat and the left-over snacks I had for my trip. He gobbled them up and thanked me for them. He asked me if I knew where his boy was and I apologized that I didn't. He explained that they were playing chase one day and got seperated. I told him if I find a lost boy that I'll make sure he gets home safely. The old man thanks me and wonders off down the alley. I get home and Janissa is sleeping soundly. I lay down and start to dose off when I'm awoken to Janissa screaming and shaking me. She in a flat out panic is screaming at me "DON'T GO CHASING HIM, DON'T CHASE HIM PLEASE MY DEAREST HUSBAND DON'T CHASE HIM!!!!" In the 20 years I've known this woman she has NEVER spoken anything other than the royal language. I turn away from her for just a moment, turn back and she's sound a sleep and the lights are off again. I wake up the next day and prepare for the were-cats to enter the city. Janissa has no recollection of screaming at me the night before, she pats her stomach and winks at me. I notice it's bulging a little bit and I feel all tingly at the idea that she's pregnant. With the help of the were-cats I'm hopeful that our child will be born into a better Omagua. I head towards the tunnel to welcome the were-cats when I notice out of the corner of my eye a grey streak. I turn quickly and follow it. It couldn't be Storm, he was already 10 when we got here, he'd be 30 years old now and he couldn't of survived all this time,,, could he? I give chase, I turn a corner and look up and there my cat sits, in my window sill.......... My window sill, I'm back home and not time at all has passed. Notes---- Janissa's husband is never named in my dreams. The god Yaguar-Ogui was never named either, I had to look him up. Also, while Bast and Simba seem to have big roles Yaguar never makes an appearance. The vampires were eventually crushed, but after I helped destroy one of their smaller cities they never make another appearance even though that one small city wouldn't of put a dent in their population. The dreams were episodic, I don't know why but a lot of my dreams seem to pop up in episodes and I even tend to have reruns,,, thankfully I don't have commercials. Yeah no shit. There were a couple of intimate encounters with Janissa long before I moved out. I refused her advances and later told and apologized to her husband. He wasn't upset about it except for the fact that I disobeyed her. He loved her with all his being, but their marriage was arranged and was just for looks. He admitted he could never be a good husband because of the military and if Janissa favored my company then I should feel special. I never know if the were-cats succeeded. I do later find out that someway or another Janissa and I have 3 kids.... They weren't triplets but in the dream I only see her pregnant by me 1 time. Janissa is pregnant when I first arrive in Omagua, but loses the baby someway or another. She's pregnant one day, then not the next. Her husband is upset over this, but Janissa isn't. It's not that she doesn't care it's just that while she was the High Priestess she was more focussed on keeping Omagua happy than her own family life. That's all I can remember right off hand. I originally had tons of stuff written down but I made the mistake of telling my mom about this and as if I expected anything different she told me it was stupid and a waste of time. So I deleted my original outline of this story.
